Road to Pilani... (part two)

This year, the road to Pilani,

Seemed strikingly easy unlike the past

And with swift motions we reached the train

And set off for a fun trip to beat the last

Taking complete joy in being THE senior

I ragged ALL my juniors, much against their plans

Made them sing and dance all the way

And discovered some Asha Bhonsles and Ekta Kapoor fans

While the voice of one had us reach for the tissues

The K for kadam factor had us in splits

And then there was just a little booty dance

To make sure our flagging spirits, did uplift!

The boys bonded all happy and GAY

Giving us but teasers to the films being shot in the dorms

Amusing and disgusting us in equal ways

Was the nascent homo-love being born!

And then we hit the courts as soon as we landed

And stretched our limbs out thin

But still found time to spare

To spread around and try our every whim

As the games rolled on galore

We met and laughed with a million strangers

And showed off our strong cheers for D.Y

Pushing the nights to stretch a little longer!

The nights were trenched in bouts of joy

Over long-awaited meals we laughed and cried

And rode those bicycles through streets of mystery

Till, with exhaustion, we lay back on the bed and sighed

And soon, before you knew it, the day came

When with heavy hearts and sluggish steps

We bid adieu to each other

With promises of an encore on everyone’s lips!

In memory of a friend

In those days of my sullen past,
He brought the warmth of the sun
Retaught me how to live to smile
And we sure did have a lot of fun

But then came those times of darkness
Where neither could see where the next step should be
And as fate would have it, we trod on paths
That were as opposed as they could be

After excruciating moments of but pain
And months of wanting to let go
Misery disentangled from my mind
But I had no friend left to show

He lays lost to me now
And I don't quite regret the fact
I thank the Lord for giving me him
And promise to keep those cherished memories intact.
